Prusament PC Blend (Polycarbonate) is the perfect material for stronger, more durable 3D prints.
Polycarbonates are a group of plastics that are known for their strength, mechanical durability, toughness, and temperature resistance. They are commonly used for the production of CDs, goggles, or car headlights.
The composition of pure polycarbonate is a material not suitable for 3D printing. It adheres very poorly to the build platform and, due to its high thermal expansion, tends to warp and crack. We have added carefully selected additives to the mix, improving adhesion and reducing cracking and deformation, while maintaining the excellent properties of polycarbonate.
Prusament PC Blend is suitable for advanced users. If you're new to 3D printing, we recommend starting with materials that are easier to print, such as PLA and PETG. The PC Blend is recommended for more experienced 3D printer users who are looking for a strong and durable material for the production of prototypes and functional parts, components that have to withstand thermal and mechanical stress.
Preparing the Build Dock
The Prusament PC Blend can be printed on smooth or textured steel sheets with PEI. However, it is necessary to spread a separating agent over the foil before starting printing, otherwise the adhesion of the print may be too strong. The best way to prepare your build platform is to apply a thin layer of paper glue over it. Not adding a separation layer can damage the printing foil!
After you're done printing and removing the object from the print foil, use isopropyl alcohol to clean the foil thoroughly! Avoid cleaning textured sheets with water, as this can lead to corrosion.
